Video Analysis

Often times the biggest and strongest triathlete is not the one to win the race, it's the person who has the best technique. We do know that good form can certainly make us faster and more efficient. The issue lies in that an athlete is not able to make their own form corrections, nor do they have a coach at their beckon call for each workout to do so either. So what can an athlete do?

To address this dilemma, Max Multisport Coaching has purchased state of the art video analysis software which allows us to take video footage from an athlete's training or racing (taken by us or sent to us) and break it down in small bits with voice-over commentary to make form improvements.

Through professional analysis by a certified coach, we can break footage down and make key technique adjustments. Final analysis will include suggestions and advice on how to correct form flaws. Also included will be video drills which the athlete can immediately implement into their training regimen. After some time, the athlete can come back for subsequent video sessions and see a side by side view of the improvements from one session to the next.

You'll get 3 sessions over the year filmed or analyzed.  Fee is $165 for all 3 sessions in a single sport (for swimming, applies to one stroke such as freestyle, backstroke, etc.)

V02 Max Testing

Want to know how fit you actually are? VO2 Max Testing — previously used only by higher level professional or elite athletes — determines your cardiovascular fitness by measuring your oxygen utilization at different intensities.

V02 Max Testing is conducted while you exercise on a bike or treadmill. During a short workout, you breathe through a mask with a flow meter to measure gas exchange. The recorded information is then used to calculate your threshold heart rate and personal heart zones, which give specific target heart rates for you to train in so you can get the results you want, as well as your aerobic capacity and caloric expenditure.

Metabolic Assessment

Determining your threshold heart rate and zones for training is key to determining your current fitness levels and potential. Don't just "workout," achieve your goal of better health, fitness or athletic performance. A Metabolic Assessment will give you a plan for how long you should train and at what intensity.

A Metabolic Assessment is conducted during 8 to 10 minutes of gradual increase of exercise intensity performed on a stationary bike or treadmill. Based on decades of medical research, it shows how efficiently your body burns calories and from what energy source (percentage in fat or carbohydrates).

Heart Rate Field Assessment

A Heart Rate Field Assessment is conducted by a certified coach during an hour-long one-on-one session. Field assessment protocols, such as time trials or threshold assessments, determine your appropriate heart rate, paces or power zones for training effectively. A Heart Rate Field Assessment can be done outdoors on your bike, on the track for running, or in the pool swimming.

Upon completion, you will receive education on your power zones as well as tips on your form and a stretching routine for your chosen sport.

Multisport Assessment

Gauge your current fitness, technique and efficiency in all three sports (swimming, biking, and running) with the multisport package.  Our coaches use the latest endurance training methods and technology to evaluate areas for improvement and performance in triathlon.  Included in this assessment:

  • Video swim analysis in a pool and suggested areas for improvement.
  • Power cycling assessment on the CompuTrainer identifying power zones and pedal efficiency.
  • Bike fit overview with slight adjustments and recommendations for professional fits.
  • Run analysis either on the treadmill or one-on-one outdoors with coach.
  • A written analysis of areas for improvement in all three sports along with drills and suggestions for improvement in each.
  • V02 (Metabolic) assessment (on bike or run) to determine current fitness level, threshold and respective training zones, fat and carbohydrate utilization, and calories burned.

Swimming

One-on-One Swimming Lesson

This One-on-One Swimming Lesson includes one hour of structured training, drills and technique/skill instruction with a professional coach.

Fee: $85

Cycling

One-on-One Cycle Instruction Session

One-on-One Cycle Instruction Sessions are performed inside on a CompuTrainer. The one-hour session includes quick bike fit analysis along with small adjustments to maximize your fit and comfort. Your certified, professional coach will provide pedal stroke analysis as well as recommend drills and techniques to maximize your effectiveness on the bike.

Fee: $100

Professional Bike Fitting

Discounted professional bike fitting is available through one of Max Multisport's partner bike shops. for more information!

Fee: $75 to $250

Running

One-on-One Coached Run Session 

A one-hour session includes drills, flexibility exercises and one-on-one feedback from a certified coach.

Fee: $85

Personal Training and Strength Training for Triathletes, Runners and Cyclists

Personal Training Package

Four one-hour sessions with a certified personal trainer.

Fee: $250 (travel fees may apply)

Single Session Personal Training

One hour-long session with a certified personal trainer.

Fee: $65.00 (travel fees may apply)

Strength and Conditioning Program Design

Strength and Conditioning Program Design includes an initial assessment and workout with a certified personal trainer and coach along with demonstration of the exercises in your detailed 8- to 10-week program. You'll receive photos, explanations and repetitions/sets to follow during the duration of the program.

A follow-up coached session is included to maximize success.

Program Startup Package

Your Program Startup Package will be performed over two hour-long sessions or two meetings and include:

  • Comprehensive initial consultation (one-on-one with coach)
  • Goal setting and outlining of objectives
  • Assessment of your limiters and strengths
  • Identification of event/race schedule and/or recommendations for events/races
  • Heart rate training zone/pace establishment through field test (choice of: run, cycle or swim)
  • Review of athlete history and goals
